Practitioners and academics on construction-management education and competence
KK KMI FTSL ITB

Dedicated undergraduate programmes in construction management have existed for decades: in the United States since the 1950s, in the United Kingdom since the 1960s, and for a long time in neighbouring Malaysia. Graduates are absorbed mainly by contractors, with a core competence of how to build. Civil engineering and architecture programmes emphasise how to design.
KK KMI FTSL ITB convened the discussion:
Thursday, 23 April 2026, 09.00–12.00 Western Indonesia Time ITB Jakarta Campus, 12th floor, Irama Building, Kuningan or online via Microsoft Teams.
Dr. Igor Martek (Deakin University) has studied and developed an undergraduate construction-management programme in Australia. Questions on the table: is there a dedicated undergraduate programme in Indonesia? Does the labour market need one? Are existing programmes enough? Which competences are required?
